As a surfer who grew up in Quebec, I’ve mostly known New Hampshire as a destination with beautiful beaches, concentrated on 18 miles of coastline.
But in fact, New Hampshire has so much more to offer than just a beautiful coastline! Marc-Antoine had just completed the build of his van so when I launched the idea that he hit the road with me, he didn’t hesitate for a moment. Here are some of the places we explored during our time there.
Coming from the north on I93, you’ll notice an impressive steep cliff of Cannon Mountain.
We started by climbing a portion of the Cathedral Ledge in North Conway.
Highway 112 from Lincoln is awesome and will give you a unique view of the White Mountains.
We camped in Pillsbury State Park for one night. The lake is beautiful and we actually pitched our tent on site number 40, which is only accessible with a canoe.
There are many waterfalls throughout the state. We stopped to cool down at Beede Falls close to Sandwich. You’ll be on a dirt road for half a mile before you reach the small parking lot. No overnight parking!
The next day we met two mountain bikers who took us on fun trails at Bear Brook State Park.
At this point we felt ready to hit the ocean. Waves were small that day but we ended up paddling out and catching a few anyways!
Can’t go to New Hampshire without fishing! We had a blast with captain Rocky and his crew. We even caught a sea bass big enough to take home.
I’m a big oyster fan and had always been curious on how to farm them. Laura took us for a little tour.
