Everyone knows that summer is always full of adventures!

During the summer months, we always take advantage of the opportunity to go on road trips with our family. When we can, we like to extend our road trips over several weeks so we can take our time, adjust our itinerary based on our preferences, and fully enjoy each of our destinations. On our most recent trip to Gaspésie, we made a stop in Mont-Joli on our way home and stayed at the Quality Inn & Suites, which is part of the Choice Hotels Canada network of hotels. It was the perfect place for us to take a short break from our daily life on the road.

When there are three of us living in the van, it’s sometimes a good idea to stop at a friend’s house or a hotel to spend the night and reset before our next adventures. We take the opportunity to reorganize the van, do some laundry, and take a hot shower before hitting the road!

A well-deserved break on the road

When choosing a place to stay on our road trips, we always look for an all-in-one family destination that allows us to organize, entertain and relax. A place that’s the perfect blend of convenience and comfort!

Our stay at the Quality Inn & Suites, was a well-deserved stop after several days on the road around Gaspésie. Our favourite on-site services included free laundry (a dream for any nomadic family on the road for several days), wifi and a remote work area in the lobby, a children’s playground, an indoor pool, massage therapists and a gym. Karo enjoyed a massage after a workout and a dip in the spa, while Zak had a blast in the pool with Dad.

Lucky for us, breakfast was included in our stay! We filled our plates with eggs, bacon, waffles and fruit, with a good cup of coffee to refuel before we hit the road again.

The comfort of Choice Hotels Canada

After a warm welcome, we discovered our room, which had everything to satisfy us. Zak was able to sleep on his own sofa bed in the living room, while we had an enclosed room for a good, relaxing night’s sleep. The room was also equipped with a small desk and kitchenette, the perfect combination for remote workers like us!

We also liked the hotel’s proximity to various services and activities. We treated ourselves to dinner at the nearby Le Ketch microbrewery. The next day, we took the opportunity to walk down to the riverbank and then to the Jardins de Métis, less than 10 minutes from the Quality Inn & Suites! Finally, because the hotel is so close to Highway 20, it’s easily accessible, but still super-quiet for a relaxing stay.

Save while you travel

For us, it’s a long-standing habit: as soon as we start planning our next trip, we use various rewards programs to earn points and save money. Whether we’re flying, driving or staying in a hotel, loyalty programs allow us to travel several times a year at low cost and with flexibility (which is essential in vanlife)!

As a Choice Privileges member, you can take advantage of member-only rates and earn points that can be redeemed for free nights, gift cards for gas (we love this one) coffee and more, and experiences. With over 7,000 hotels, including brands like Comfort, Quality and the unique Ascend Hotel Collection in 45 countries and territories around the world, it’s well worth the membership! Plus, it’s free to join!
